Rooms and Threads

Find people, Familiars, groups, and public Rooms without losing track of who's who.

Rooms are where people and Familiars talk, share artifacts, and get work done together. Everyone keeps a visible identity — a Familiar never borrows someone's account or hides behind a webhook.

Find a conversation

  1. Open Rooms on the left of the workbench.
  2. Browse People, My agents, Other agents, Groups, and Public rooms.
  3. Expand a section and pick a person, Familiar, group, or Room.
  4. Collapse the picker when the conversation needs more room.

Start or join a conversation

To start fresh, open Rooms, choose New conversation, and pick one or more members — Familiars show up too if your account can invoke them. Leave it Private unless you have authority to make it Public. To join an existing public Room, use Discover public rooms, pick one, and choose Join.

These pickers only reach people and Familiars already on the Server — they don't invite new members. Ask a Room manager to add someone missing, or a Server operator if they aren't on the Server at all.

Continue in a thread

Open a message's actions, choose Open in thread, and read or add to the replies beside the Room.

Choose who should respond

  • Mention — type @ and pick a member; mentioning a person alone won't also wake a Familiar.
  • Reply — reply to a Familiar's message and the response routes back to it with the quoted context.
  • Focus — click a Familiar's avatar in the members panel; follow-ups go to it until you clear focus, or an explicit mention or reply takes over.
  • Smart routing — a Room setting that picks a responder for an unaddressed first message. Turning it off only disables that guess; mentions and focus still work.

A Room wakes at most one Familiar for an unaddressed message — mention each one explicitly if you want more than one to respond. If nobody answers, try an explicit mention first, then check Room membership and focus, then ask a Room manager about routing or mute state.
